Match Preview: Leicester City vs. Burnley

Read a full match preview on the Barclays Premier League game between Leicester City and Burnley at King Power Stadium on Saturday 4 October.

Nigel Pearson’s men suffered only their second defeat of the season on Saturday after conceding from two set-plays to lose 2-0 to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
But their Barclays Premier League form at King Power Stadium will certainly act in their favour after draws against Everton and Arsenal and an emphatic win over Manchester United.
City enjoyed their battles with Sean Dyche’s men last season having drawn at home and beaten the fellow new boys on the road.
Both Ritchie De Laet and Esteban Cambiasso are fit for the clash after being substituted in the defeat to Palace. Matty Upson is showing signs improvement in his recovery from a foot injury while Zoumana Bakayogo has had an operation after again damaging his anterior cruciate ligament.

The Clarets are currently bottom of the league after a winless start to their first season in England’s top flight since their relegation in 2010.
They haven’t scored since their opening day 3-1 defeat against Chelsea at Turf Moor but registered three successive goalless draws against Manchester United, Crystal Palace and Sunderland before their most recent 4-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Due a win, Burnley will be looking to register a win at King Power Stadium for the first time since November 2007 when Andy Gray fired in an early winner.
Dean Marney (hamstring), David Jones (hip/thigh) and Matthew Taylor (calf/shin) remain doubts for the trip to Leicester while Danny Ings (hamstring) and Sam Vokes (anterior cruciate ligament) are more long-term problems for the Lancashire club.
Speaking to Foxes Player following the loss to Crystal Palace, Nigel Pearson said: “They (set plays) are important in any division. The two goals came after a period in the first half when we were in the ascendency and had some chances but didn’t take them.
“Likewise in the second half we created a couple of promising situations but we’ve not really taken the chances when they’ve arisen, so that is disappointing because I think people’s expectations are always altered when you get big results.
“As far as I’m concerned, this was always going to be an important game and we started well enough, there’s no doubt, but unfortunately we weren’t to make the most of our chances when they came.
“We’re not perfect. We know that we’re going to have games where things don’t go quite our way, but we know we’ve got to perform as well as we can. You’ve got to give them (Crystal Palace) some credit as well.”
After the 4-0 defeat to West Brom, Burnley boss Sean Dyche told burnleyfootballclub.com: “It's not a good afternoon that’s for sure, we never got out the blocks at all today, which is my main disappointment.
“Results can happen like today, particularly at this level of football and you want to perform.
“We have done well so far this season, we’ve performed in a manner that means you can win games but today that didn’t happen.
“Credit to West Brom because there has been a few question marks about them and they’ve turned it around quickly.”

George Boyd joined Burnley in September and has played three times for his side so far this season.
The Scotland international is best known for his six years at Peterborough United where he made over 250 appearances for the Posh.
The aggressive and skilful winger helped former side Hull City gain promotion back to the Barclays Premier League in the 2012/13 season.
An explosive and exciting player to watch, City’s defence will need to be on their game on Saturday if they wish to silence the 28-year-old attacker.
