U18s Report: Chelsea 0 City 2

Danny Rowe and Chris Dusabe struck clinically in the second 45 minutes to secure the three points and move City level with ninth placed Arsenal in the league table. 

On the back of a win over West Brom, the young Foxes started brightly, and had two excellent early chances to take the lead through Lithuania international Simonas Stankevicius and Sam Jones – the latter heading straight into the hands of Chelsea ‘keeper Bradley Collins. 

Stankevicius then saw a powerful free kick strike the wall as City pressed well. Dangerous wide man Kyle Bailey also had an effort when he curled a well-worked shot just wide of the post shortly before the break. 

Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek served a warning early in the second half when he met a corner with a fine header only for a full-stretch Liam Sharpe to claw it away. 

A brace of chances then came and went for Rowe as he headed narrowly wide at the far post before firing over from a cutback shortly afterwards. 

The Chelsea defence was finally breached with 20 minutes remaining. Rowe brought the ball out brilliantly from midfield and unleashed an accurate low finish to hand the Foxes a 1-0 lead. 

Dusabe then wasted no time in doubling City’s advantage when he ran into space to meet a cross from the right flank and head past a helpless Collins, and despite Ben Chilwell seeing red late on, the Foxes had done enough to secure the victory. 

Next up for the Foxes is a home clash with Southampton on Saturday 8 March.
