Legends Added To Heritage Afternoon

Guests at the forthcoming Davie Gibson and Friends Heritage Afternoon are in for a real treat with the announcement of three more names joining the line-up of City legends.

Following the recent unveiling of the day’s first three special guests, Gordon Banks and Frank McLintock joining Davie, we are delighted to announce a further trio of Gibson’s 1963 FA Final teammates that will be lending their support towards the LCFC Foxes Foundation event on Sunday 28 April from 2-4pm.

Joining Gibson, Banks and McLintock are three men that share a near 1,000 appearances and some of the Club’s most memorable moments during the 1960’s.

The first is a man that requires no introduction to Foxes fans and it will come as no surprise that where there is Gibson, there will always be Mike Stringfellow.

Famed for their almost telepathic link-up down the Foxes’ left, Stringfellow would become the beneficiary of many a Davie Gibson forward pass, leading ‘Stringy’ to become one of the only players to make both the top ten appearance and goalscorers list.

It was certainly safe to say that City fans at had certainly not seen anything like the mighty String!

Next up is another of City’s 300 Club, left back, Richie Norman.

As consistent and reliable a defender to have ever worn the famous blue shirt, Norman would retain an unshakeable grip on the number three shirt during what was, at the time, the Club’s record number of consecutive appearances between April 1960 to February 1964.

Rounding up the trio is one of the City of Leicester’s best known former Foxes, Howard Riley. The Wigston born outside right would enjoy a fruitful career at Filbert Street both as player and more recently as part of the Club’s Academy set-up.

A great all round footballer, Riley would make over 200 appearances and take part in two FA Cup Finals and earn a League Cup winners medal during his career.

Between the six guests announced so far they have amassed an incredible 1,863 City appearances combined making this the biggest Heritage Afternoon to date.

As always there will also be the chance to see some of the Club’s great hidden treasures from the era presented by The Birch and Club Historian John Hutchinson.

You could be there in person to hear from this line-up of City greats with tickets available priced just £15.

Book your place by calling 0844 815 5000, by emailing: or buy online .

This event is a must for all City supporters keen to learn more about one of City’s true golden eras.
