King: Concentrate On Our Job

Foxes midfielder Andy King says Leicester City must concentrate on their own game as they head into the final day of the npower Championship season against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

City must beat their east midlands rivals and hope Bolton fails to beat Blackpool to be in with a chance of taking the final play-off position, but will have a battle on their hands against a Forest side also in with a shout of a top-six spot.

But with Bolton’s fortunes out of their control, King insists that The Foxes must do everything in their power to claim three points and give themselves the best possible chance of play-off football.

“I think we’ve just got to approach it as we would do any other big game,” said King. “What we’ve done throughout the season is to be professional in the build up and concentrate on our job.

“Ultimately if we beat Forest and Bolton win then nothing happens anyway. So it’s about us winning our own game and giving ourselves the best chance.

“I think from a player’s point of view the big games are the ones you want to play in. In a Leicester shirt, Forest away is one of the big games and everyone will be up for it.”

The 24-year-old, who now has over 200 appearances for the Club, knows from experience that Forest are a difficult side to beat, but there is no question that the motivation for the players to get the job done is there.

He added: “We’ve played against them under Billy Davies before and I’d have thought they’d be fairly similar.

“They’re going to come out all guns blazing, but we’ve got to keep to our game plan. I’m sure if we keep our nerve we’ll be fine.

“It’s about what we do. What we don’t want to do is not do the job ourselves and then for Bolton to drop points.

“It’s about us and concentrating on our own game and making sure we get the job done first.

“I don’t think the manager will have to do a great deal to get the boys up for it to be fair. It’s the last day of the season, everyone knows what they’ve got to do and it’s against local rivals.

“I think that any experience that you’ve got in big games or in these situations is vital. We’ve got players who’ve been promoted before, and the experienced players in the group are going to have to help the young ones, but hopefully it’ll be a successful day.”
