Pearson Praises Spirit

City boss Nigel Pearson was delighted with the spirit his side displayed to fight back to a 1-1 draw with Leeds in the npower Championship.

After Sam Byram’s 52nd minute strike, The Foxes were up against it, but on-loan Manchester United man Michael Keane headed City level in stoppage time at King Power Stadium.

It gave Pearson’s men a well-deserved point in a game that looked to be heading away from them despite some excellent chances created throughout the 90 minutes.

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player, Pearson said: “Things don’t always go the way you want them to, but I’m pleased with the desire of the players to get something out of the game.

“I think the players deserved it to be honest with you. It was a tough game for us, conceding an early goal in the second half, and they made it difficult for us.

“We worked the goalkeeper. He has made some very good saves, and they made some good blocks in the second half at which point it looked like it probably wasn’t going to go for us, but we persevered and got something out of the game, and that’s a good illustration of what it takes.

“The players deserved something out of the game tonight there’s no doubt about that.

“[Spirit] that’s what you need if you want to make any progress. It’s disappointing not to win of course and we do need to find more wins at the moment, but that’s the nature of it.

“We hung in there and our players showed some good spirit. There are always going to be people who are not happy but I’ll stick by my players and I know they’ll get on with it.”
