Keane: Fans Make Massive Difference

City’s on-loan Manchester United defender Michael Keane is hoping the travelling Foxes faithful can help the squad claim all three points against Peterborough United at London Road on Saturday.

The Foxes are unbeaten in 2013 but will face a battle to continue that run against Darren Ferguson’s dangerous Posh side, who are fighting for points to lift them off the foot of the npower Championship table.

But with over 4,500 City fans behind the team and second place to consolidate, Keane is desperate to secure another victory for the club on the back of last week’s win over Wolves at King Power Stadium.

“The fans will make a massive difference,” Keane told .

“The Leicester fans are brilliant away from home. We had a huge following at Huddersfield - it only helps the team and hopefully they can be loud and push us on.

“Peterborough have shown that they’ve got the capability to beat the bigger teams and we’ve just got to approach it as we approach every game.

“We’ve got the play our football, wear them down, and aim to get a few goals.

“We’ll be going there looking to win, as always, but we know we’ll have to work hard and defend well first and foremost and stop them scoring. We know we’ve got the talent to score goals ourselves and hopefully that will be the case.

“They will be desperate for points at this stage of the season with where they are.

“Obviously they have a lot of good players and we’ve got to be careful not to take things for granted and play like we do every game.”

The 20-year-old has yet to taste defeat in a Leicester City shirt in seven appearances – winning five and drawing two so far, and sees no reason why the Foxes can’t continue in the same vein at the weekend.

He added: “We’ve had a good run of games, we’re undefeated in this New Year and so everyone is really confident. We’re looking forward to the next more game every day.

“It’s a good achievement [for me to be unbeaten], but it’s testament to how the lads have been playing and the work ethic in the team. It’s not just down to me, and I hope we can keep it going.

“We knew we had the talent in the team, it was just about picking up form when we had a few bad results towards the end of last year.

“We knew it was possible to have a run like this, and now we’re on this run we want to keep going and playing as many games as possible.

“There is lots of belief in the squad. It’s getting to that stage in the season where we think we can actually get automatic promotion so there’s huge belief with everyone, and huge competition for places in training, which pushes everyone to be better and it’s only good for the team.”
