U18s Report: Norwich 2 City 1

A late goal from Norwich City’s Henry Randall handed the Foxes a narrow defeat away at Colney in the Barclays U18 Premier League.

Danny Rowe had levelled for City after Rhys Browne opened the scoring for the Canaries in the first half, but Randall’s header from a Cameron King corner with ten minutes left took the spoils for the home side.

After a good spell of recent results, the Foxes began the match brightly against last season’s FA Youth Cup winners, with only Norwich goalkeeper Ben Killip’s reactions denying Rowe the opening goal in the first few minutes of the match.

The game soon swung in Norwich’s favour however, as midfield man King slid a pass through to Browne, who finished past City ‘keeper Liam Sharpe for 1-0.

Simonas Stankevicius then rattled the crossbar with an excellent effort as City made the Canaries work hard to hold onto their lead.

After the break the pressure finally told, and City striker Rowe’s good finish pulled the scores level at 1-1.

However with City seemingly in the ascendancy, Norwich struck from a set piece with less than ten minutes left – Randall’s powerful header from King’s set piece enough to secure all three points.
