U18 Report: Leicester City 5 Fulham 0

Leicester City’s Academy squad surged to a second consecutive 5-0 win on home soil after beating Fulham in the Barclays U18 Premier League on Saturday.

Strikes from Brandon Fox, Layton Ndukwu and Keenan King saw City take firm control of the game heading into the break before Danny Rowe and Kyle Bailey added late on.
The result means the young Foxes have registered five wins in six games in the league in what has been a fantastic few weeks for the Under-18s.
Leicester could have taken the lead with just five minutes gone after a short free kick between Matty Miles and Ben Chilwell saw the latter swing the ball in for Elliott Moore – the centre-half heading just over early on.
Fulham weren’t without their chances and when Adetayo Edun delivered from the left flank for Josh Walker, the No.11 looked to have opened the scoring, but headed wide of City’s upright on 12 minutes.
A tight opening 25 minutes finally saw Leicester break the opposition’s back four. Darnell Johnson floated a ball over the top of the defence to find Fox, who lifted the ball over the oncoming Magnus Norman to make it 1-0 midway through the first half.
Walker then collected a loose ball deep in the City area and after rounding one defender, the Fulham winger couldn’t beat Max Smith-Varnham, who pulled off a smart stop from close range.
Chilwell guided a long ball into the path of Fox on 41 minutes, who took a deft first touch and found himself one-on-one with the Cottagers’ ‘keeper. But Fox unselfishly squared it for forward Ndukwu, who tapped in from close range to double Leicester’s lead.
And Jon Rudkin’s youngsters made it three right on half time. Latching onto a through ball, King produced a neat chip over Norman, putting City in a commanding position at the break.
The visitors came out much stronger in the second half, creating a host of good chances that Smith-Varnham faced up to well.
Lucas De La Torre headed over on 48 minutes while a deflected free kick from Stephen Humphrys trickled just wide moments later.
Withstanding Fulham’s attack, City brought on winger Bailey for Johnson on 65 minutes, with Ndukwu slotting in at right back, ultimately injecting extra pace on the break for the hosts.
City’s shot-stopper was again on hand just after the hour mark – Edun weaved his way through Leicester’s defence, but the No.1 put in an important save to prevent the London side coming back into the game.
King then raced down the right flank with just 10 minutes to go. Working his way down the line after cutting the ball back, the No.9 rolled the ball into the path of Rowe, who side-footed in to make it 4-0.
And there was still time for another City goal with King the provider again. The powerful striker burst through the Fulham midfield on the break, playing in substitute Bailey, who rounded the goalkeeper in superb fashion and fired into an open net with 82 minutes gone.
A flurry of late chances for Fulham saw Smith-Varnham deny the opposition’s attack on two separate occasions, helping to secure a clean sheet in what proved to be an impressive 5-0 win for his team.
Rudkin’s side play host to West Ham United in the Premier League in two weeks’ time after the international break, and will look to make it three wins on the bounce when the Hammers come to Belvoir Drive.
Speaking after the victory, Rudkin said: "The game was very tight. There were two good teams who were both trying to play in the right fashion.
“I think we showed that little bit of ruthlessness today, something that we’ve been asking the team for. We demonstrated that with a couple of our goals."
