Performances Encourage Pearson
City recorded a sixth win out of seven to build momentum heading into the opening Barclays Premier League fixture against Everton next Saturday.
And boss Pearson believed his side’s display warranted a higher score line as the Foxes concluded their warm-up fixtures before their domestic campaign commences.
Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player, Pearson said: “It was a good all-round performance - I think in terms of how we set up today, we were the better side.
“All the players that got on the field today gave a really good account of themselves.
“All in all I was very pleased with how we played, the intensity of the performance and I think throughout it we looked very competent and very encouraging moving forward.”
But ultimately Pearson is aware that form is temporary and their pre-season victories could count for nothing if they don’t carry their results into the league.
He continued: “I can’t really affect how other people perceive pre-season games but I know that for the most part what we got out of them and the training as an exercise for us as a squad has been what we want.
“I’m not daft – pre-season games don’t win or lose you any points so it all comes down to what we do next week.
“If we’d have come to the end of pre-season having lost a couple of games my views on how I view pre-season wouldn’t change.
“We are always judged on results when the season starts, clearly winning is a decent habit to have, and I would rather win games when we’ve played well and we’ve done that today.
“It was a tough fixture and they’re a very good side but we have been able to deal with their threat pretty well today and I think it would have been fair to say that we could have won the game a little bit more convincingly – it was a good practice for us.”
