Leicester City youngster Jacob Blyth has extended his loan spell with Sky Bet League 2 side Northampton Town until November.

The 21-year-old striker has impressed in his six-game spell with the Cobblers so far, scoring two goals – including one on his debut in a 3-1 home victory over newly-promoted Newport County.

With a growing reputation as a powerful striker and a clinical finisher, Blyth has been a welcome addition to Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd’s attacking options as they look to climb the League 2 table, most recently featuring as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s 1-1 draw at home to Scunthorpe United.

Next up for the Cobblers at Sixfields are high-flying Exeter City on Saturday, when Boothroyd’s men will be hoping to kick start a season that has seen them win just once in eight games.

Blyth appeared once for City during pre-season against Leamington – from whom he joined the Foxes in the summer of 2012.
