The LCFC Foxes Foundation Santa Fun Run

…in partnership with When You Wish Upon a Star.

Leicester City Football Club is delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural LCFC Santa Fun Run in partnership with .
The fun run or walk, which will take place at Victoria Park, Leicester on Sunday 7th December (10.30am start), will see the adopt When You Wish Upon a Star as an additional charity for this specific event with all funds raised divided equally between the five LCFC Foxes Foundation charities and When You Wish Upon a Star. City supporters taking part in this event will join participants in the Great Leicester Santa Run – an event set up by When you wish upon a Star in 2010.
When You Wish Upon a Star is a local charity who's primary aim is to grant the wishes of children living with life threatening illness. As well as granting each and every wish received throughout the year, each December the charity raises funds to charter a number of flights to Lapland enabling 100's of children living with a life threatening illnesses to meet Santa Claus.
2.5km or 5km run or walk
Supporters of all ages are invited to take part in this fun event with a 2.5km distance offered for those who prefer to walk or run a shorter distance and 5km option for those who would prefer a bit more of a challenge. The routes are accessible to wheelchair and mobility scooter users and children in push chairs and dogs on leads are allowed.
A special Christmas warm up session will be provided for all participants before the start of the race and a range of Christmas stalls will be on Victoria Park along with a festive food offering, music and entertainment.
Exclusive blue Santa Suit for all Adult participants!
Registration to take part in the fun run costs just £10 for adults and £5 for under 12s with under 3s at no charge. Each registered adult will receive their very own exclusive blue Santa suit, which includes a jacket and trousers with belt, hat and beard with registered under 12s receiving an elf hat – all registered participants will receive a medal when they complete the run.
The registration fee covers the cost of the staging of the event and the Santa Suit, elves hats and medals so in order to help raise much needed funds for the charities supporters are strongly encouraged to raise a minimum of £20 sponsorship per registered participant with every penny of the funds raised shared between the charities.
“It literally is a walk in the park!”
Alan ‘The Birch’ Birchenall, LCFC Club Ambassador said:“This is a cracking event and a great way for our fantastic supporters to have a bit of festive fun and raise money for some great causes at the same time.
"This is one of those special events where not only the Leicester City faithful but the general public as well can take part and have some fun – it doesn’t matter if you are eight or eighty, everyone likes to have a bit fun at Christmas time. Bring your children in pushchairs, take the dog for or walk or get together with your work colleagues – it’s a great excuse to get out in the fresh air on a Sunday morning. It literally is a walk in the park!”

The Second Million campaign
Speaking about the charities involved, Birch said:“The Club has recently launched our ‘The Second Million’ campaign which sees the Club wanting to raise another million pounds for the LCFC Foxes Foundation after breaking through the first one million pound barrier in terms of money raised for various local charities over the years.
"This is the second event that the Club has announced in addition to Birch’s Fun Bingo Night which will take place at King Power Stadium on Thursday 27th November, with more LCFC Foxes Foundation events to be announced soon. We are going to push as hard as we can to reach the target of the second million pounds as quickly as we can.
"I have worked with When You Wish Upon a Star over the years and they are a fantastic charity. I would like to thank them on behalf of everyone involved with the LCFC Foxes Foundation for allowing us to partner with them for this event."

Help provide a ‘magical experience’
Liz Credgington, East Midlands Regional Fundraiser said:“We are delighted to be working with Leicester City Football Club and the LCFC Foxes Foundation this year to make The Great Leicester Santa Run 2014 the biggest and best yet! It’s a great Christmas event for everyone and we hope that lots of fans from the Club will join in the festive fun.
"Funds raised from the event will help us take up to 100 children from the East Midlands who are living with a life threatening illness to Lapland this December. The whole trip is incredibly special and when the children meet Father Christmas it’s just amazing, they really deserve a break from treatments and the chance to enjoy such a magical experience.”
