Moore Signs New Leicester City Contract

A boyhood Foxes fan, Moore is part of a long line of graduates from City’s famed Academy, with fellow City products Andy King, Jeff Schlupp, Conrad Logan and Tom Hopper currently alongside him in the first team squad. 

After putting pen-to-paper, a delighted Moore told LCFC.com: “It feels absolutely brilliant to sign my contract. It’s great to get it done and commit my future to this great Club. 

“To sign a long-term contract with a Club that’s heading into the Premier League is massive and it shows how much confidence the manager has in me. 

“This is my home town club and I made it clear that I wanted to stay at Leicester City from the word go. 

“I’ve been here since I was eight, in fact the other day my mum even pulled out the first contract I ever signed for Leicester back in June 2000. So to sign a new one that will take me to 17 years as a Leicester City player is a dream come true.” 

Since signing his first professional contract in the summer of 2011, the youngster has gone on to forge a reputation as one of the most promising defenders in the country on the back of his increasingly mature displays alongside skipper Wes Morgan. 

Quick, powerful and athletic, Moore has played both at centre-back and right-back for City over the last two seasons, just as he had done for their successful youth teams in recent years. 

As well as the work done by Academy and first team coaches, Moore’s development has also been aided by a number of loan spells in the Football League. 

The first of those came with League 2 side Bradford City in the 2011/12 campaign, for whom he appeared 22 times. He returned to City in January 2012 to make his full debut in an excellent 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace, along with another appearance in a final day victory over Leeds United. 

Moore again broke into the first team at the start of the 2012/13 season, before heading to League 1 side Brentford for another loan spell. That was cut short in April 2013 however, as City recalled him to help fire them into the play-offs – something they achieved with Moore featuring in City’s glorious last day victory away at Nottingham Forest. 

Building on those impressive displays, the 2013/14 campaign really proved to be the standout season for Moore, during which he came off the bench to replace Zak Whitbread on the opening day and went on to play 33 times in all competitions. 

His first goal for the Club came in a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic at King Power Stadium in September 2013 – a month that also saw him scoop the coveted Football League Young Player of the Month award. 

Further recognition for Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21s side followed, and if Moore continues to progress at this rate, the 2014/15 season should be one to remember for the youngster.
