Elder Ready For Fulham Test

Foxes Development Squad defender Callum Elder has called for his side to draw on last season’s superb form when they face Fulham at King Power Stadium on Monday (KO 7pm).

The Australian-born youngster returned from an Achilles injury in Tuesday’s 4-2 victory against Blaby & Whetstone in the Westerby Cup Winners’ Cup final after a long spell on the sidelines.
Elder, who plies his trade at left-back, is eager to return to regular football and believes the squad can take a lot of positives from their winning streak at the end of last year’s Barclays U21 Premier League season.
Speaking after the victory over Blaby & Whetstone, the City youngster said: “It was great, I’m really happy with the result.
“Our next game is at King Power Stadium against Fulham and we’re looking to bounce back against them – we’re all up for it.
“We did really well last season, I was really happy with the way we finished.
I was looking to kick on again and suffered a little set back with the injury but I’m really looking forward to getting back in the league games.
“We’re playing in a tough league against quality opposition but we think we can do really well again.
“For me more than anyone not being involved in the Everton game was tough – it really does feel like the first game of the season.”
Several postponements and the international break meant that City went without a Premier League game for three weeks – their last outing a thrilling 3-2 defeat at Everton.
Elder reflected on last season’s win against their upcoming opponents, a victory which started a run of seven wins in eight games in the closing stages of the 2013/14 campaign.
A key member of the team that night, Elder added: “While we’ve had quite a lengthy spell without a game, we see this game as the start of our season and hope to get a run going and hopefully get up that league table.
“It was a huge turnaround last season – they were top of the league and we were going down knowing it would be a tough game.
“They set out a strong team with quite a few first team lads and it came at a time where we knew we had to come together as a team and we did.
“We did really well to get a 3-1 win that night – it sparked a run of unbeaten games so hopefully we can do that again when we play them on Monday night.”

Tickets for the Fulham game are priced at £3 for Adults and £1 for Concessions (in the West Stand only). Kick-off is at 7pm.
