Hamer Delighted With League Debut

City goalkeeper Ben Hamer was delighted to mark his Barclays Premier League debut with a clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

The former Charlton man made a handful of impressive key saves including two within the space of 10 seconds from Mame Biram Diouf.
And Hamer, who came in for the injured Kasper Schmeichel, felt the whole team should take credit for halting the Stoke forward line.

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player after the win, Hamer said: “Hopefully I’ve put in a good shift as the rest of the boys have done – they were absolutely tremendous today.
“We were tested at times towards the last 10 – how firm we stood was unreal – it shows the desire and the character of the boys, which we all know we’ve got.
“That’s the main reason we went up last year. The desire to keep the ball out of the net was there in abundance so I’m really, really pleased.
“Leo [Ulloa] sticks a goal away which he’s capable of after Konch’s (Paul Konchesky's) great break down the left so it's a pleasing day all round.”
Having already played in the 1-0 Capital One Cup defeat to Shrewsbury last month, Hamer was handed his league debut against Mark Hughes’ men, and admitted that it came sooner than expected.
He continued: “Obviously it sprung up on me a little bit but you’ve just got to be ready and that’s what has happened today.
“I was a little bit nervous in the warm up because I didn’t know what to think of the situation but at the end of the day it’s just another game of football.
“I just took that mind set and got a good warm up in, got out to the game, got an early touch and it settled the nerves.
“It became a normal game of football to me after that.
“It was an enjoyable game – a bit heart-racing at times towards the end when they got a few chances.”
