Waghorn To Miss Millwall

City manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that Martyn Waghorn will miss Saturday’s trip to Millwall, after having his appendix out this week.

The Foxes striker was troubled by the ailment prior to last week’s game against Barnsley and was substituted halfway through the second half of City’s 2-2 draw.

He underwent a minor procedure this week and will be absent for the trip to the Den, but his recovery is expected to be swift.

“Martyn Waghorn won’t be available for this weekend; he had his appendix out the other day,” Pearson said on Thursday.

“He had a bit of a bad night’s sleep before the game last weekend, so we decided it was best to get it investigated and it turns out that was the best thing to do.

“He will hopefully be available for next week, but not on Saturday.”

Waghorn has been in fine form in recent weeks, rediscovering the powerful displays of his early days in a City shirt.

But Pearson is not concerned about the impact his absence will have on the Foxes squad, as they look to close the gap on the automatic promotion places with victory in the capital.

“As always, things crop up when you least expect it, but the players are training well and there’s a good spirit among them so I’m not worried about that.”
