Vardy: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Jamie Vardy admits he is still learning about life in the npower Championship, but is determined to kick on and deliver more goals towards City’s promotion push.

The summer signing from Fleetwood hit his first goal in 10 games in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Barnsley – a fifth strike in 19 appearances for the Foxes so far this term.

And as he prepares for Saturday’s trip to Millwall, where could be called back into the starting eleven with Martyn Waghorn out injured, Vardy says he is working hard to keep improving.

“It’s a lot harder than playing in the Conference!” said Vardy of his first four months in the second tier.

“It’s all a learning curve and I’d like to keep that going. The games are quicker, the players are bigger, more physical and better positioned, but it’s down to me to keep training hard and trying to get better.

“Five goals has been a decent return but, being a striker, I’d love to score more and now I want to kick on.

“The goal against Barnsley has given me a bit more confidence and hopefully I can bag another against Millwall.”

Saturday’s trip to The Den is the first of a string of challenging fixtures for City over the Christmas and New Year period, with leaders Cardiff set to visit King Power Stadium seven days later.

But Vardy insists the festive period shouldn’t carry any added significance.

“It’s going to be important, but the whole season is important,” he said.

“You can’t get expect to just pick up points at Christmas, you’ve got to do it all season. If we keep doing that, we’ll be up there at the end.

“They’re all big games and we’ll be looking forward to them, but you have to look at one at a time. We’ll try to pick up three points on Saturday, then moving on to the next one.”

Tickets for Saturday’s trip to Millwall will be on sale from the City Fanstore and the City Sales Centre on 0844 815 5000 until 1pm on Friday. Tickets for away supporters will also be available from The Den on the day of the game. for more information.
