Fans Flock To Trophy Display

City fans turned out in force to have their photo taken with the Barclays Premier League trophy on Friday at King Power Stadium.
With queues stretching out of the City Fanstore and around the side of the north stand, City fans were eager to set their eyes on one of the most coveted trophies on the planet, courtesy of Barclays Leicester.
Also on display was the Sky Bet Championship trophy – a prize which the Foxes won emphatically last season, finishing nine points above runners-up Burnley.
City supporters in attendance were in a confident mood ahead of their season opener against Everton at King Power Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Foxes fan Martin said: “I’m looking forward to the Everton game, I was hoping for an easier one but Everton will be fine.
“I’m a little worried about our first six games but then we have an easier run-in, if there’s such a thing as an easier run in in the Premier League.
“But this is what we’re here for, we want to be in this league and you have to take these types of games.
“We’re going into the season on a high, I’m just hoping for a good result on Saturday.”
Club ambassador and City legend Alan Birchenall, who also attended the trophy showing, said: “It’s rammed but it doesn’t surprise me – I’ve told Barclays they might as well leave it here because if we don’t get it this season it won’t be long before we do get it!
“You look around the Fanstore and it’s buzzing. Just look at the families and children coming along and having their picture taken.
“It’s brilliant and I can’t wait for the season.”
There was genuine excitement in the air with families and children of all ages looking to get a snap with a trophy that only a select few have ever had the honour of lifting.
John, a supporter for over a decade, said: “I think we’ve got a decent enough squad to do reasonably well this year.
“We can only build on what we did last year. (David) Nugent’s confidence and form from last year is going to carry into this season.
“The run in is good and I think we’ll pick up a few points and surprise some teams. We’re an unknown entity going into the first few games.”
Lifelong fan Peter added: “It’s going to be a tough season, but I think we can stay up. Last season will give us a lot of confidence.
“I’m pleased with the (Leo) Ulloa signing, he’s big, strong and a good aerial target.”
The Barclays Premier League trophy was appearing at King Power Stadium as part of the LCFC Foxes Foundation’s new charity partnership with Barclays Leicester. Click to see how Barclays Leicester will be supporting the Foundation during the 2014/15 season.
