Pearson Confident On Knockaert

The France Under-21 international limped out of last Saturday’s win at Bristol City after aggravating a knock he picked up in training.

Knockaert had also been suffering from illness in the build-up to the 4-0 win at Ashton Gate, but Pearson expects his wing wizard to recover in time to feature in Friday’s top-of-the-table clash in the npower Championship.

“He had a knock in training prior to the game and got a knock in the same place so it was an easy decision to replace him,” said Pearson of Knockaert’s weekend withdrawal.

“He was a bit ill on Saturday morning as well and has suffered a bit since, but it (his substitution) has given him a bit more time to recover and he should be OK for Friday.

“There’s a bit of illness among players and staff alike, but everyone’s going through that at the moment. We’ll manage it ok.”

City are still likely to be without defenders Sean St. Ledger (hamstring) and Zak Whitbread (calf) for the game, although striker Jamie Vardy is back in contention after recovering from a heel injury.
