Blue Army Key For De Laet

Ritchie De Laet thinks the Leicester City supporters have a key role to play when the team go in search of a Barclays Premier League win against Sunderland at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Foxes’ recent run of form has seen them slip into the relegation zone, but with things looking extremely tight in the bottom half of the table, a win against the Black Cats would propel them out of the bottom three.
Despite some hard working displays recently, the points haven’t been forthcoming for the Foxes, so with the team in need of every extra percentage they can find, De Laet is hoping the roar of the crowd can help push them over the line.
“I think at home it’s nearly been a sell out every game,” said De Laet. “If you’re 1-0 up going into the last 10 minutes it does really help, especially when your backs are against the wall. To hear them cheering for you really does give you that extra bit of energy you need to get through those last 10 minutes.
“I think if you keep Swansea and Southampton out of it we have been unlucky with our results. When you look back to the Burnley game, that should have been an extra two points on our total, and that would release a bit of the pressure we’re under at the moment.
“We don’t have those points, so now Sunderland is our next opportunity to get three points and we’ll do everything we can to take them.”
The belief within the squad has been unwavering amid the recent run, and for a team that made the rest of the league sit up and take notice with a 5-3 demolition of Manchester United not so long ago, there are plenty of positives to draw upon.
He added: “We all know each other’s qualities because we’ve been together for two years now and maybe it’s not clicking at the moment and we’re not getting that bit of luck that we need in front of goal, but we only need one goal to get the strikers going again. That confidence will come back and we’ll come back again.
“I’ve been on a bad run before when I was at Portsmouth, but there we managed to turn it around and got about seven or eight clean sheets in a row. Everyone thought they might get relegated but they got into the play offs. That’s football and things can turn pretty quickly.”
