Taylor-Fletcher Does His Homework

City attacker Gary Taylor-Fletcher knows exactly what to expect when the Foxes take on top-of-the-table Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon.

The former Blackpool striker has been doing his homework on Harry Redknapp’s league leaders ahead of the trip to Loftus Road, and is confident that City are capable of bring home some points.

The Foxes fell to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Manchester City in midweek, but for Taylor-Fletcher there were plenty of positives to take from the display, which came after a 1-1 draw with fellow high flyers Burnley last weekend.

He told Foxes Player: “It’s another massive game on Saturday. We’ve now got QPR and that‘s another top-of the table clash – a good test and a good game.

“I’ve spoken to a few of my old teammates who have played them and they said they’re one of these teams that will go ahead and then know how to control and dominate the game.

“That’s what they’ve been doing, so it’s important for us to stay in the game, dominate it and try to do that ourselves.

“They have got quite a lot of pace on the wings and throughout the team. They can sit back, draw pressure and hit you quite quickly on the counter.

“We’ve got 39 points so far this season. You can’t win them all, but if we can get another draw or a win on Saturday that would be great against these teams that are around us. A point wouldn’t be a terrible thing, because it stops them from climbing away from us and keeps us in the mix.”

The 32-year-old, who made his second start against Manchester City on Tuesday night, is eager to learn lessons from the defeat and pick up a few more minutes against the R’s on Saturday now.

He added: “I’ve been pleased with how I’ve done. I’d like to get a few more minutes, but with how the team is playing, it’s hard to get a chance. Hopefully this busy period over Christmas will give us a chance. Then it’s up to ourselves and we’ve just got to keep going.

“I think it (the Manchester City game) was one of them that when we kept our shape we were solid, it was when we went a little bit more adventurous we were punished, so at that level that’s what happens.

“If you lose the shape and give them the possession, they exploit it by breaking on you a lot quicker than other team in the championship.

“We’ve got to learn from that and it’s one of those games where they’ve got world class internationals, and that’s apparently only the second team so it was a big test, but I think we did ourselves proud. It was sloppy goals we gave away, they never carved us open, so we can take positives from that.”
