Barnes Confident City U23s Can Continue Good Form

- City saw off Derby County in style with a brilliant 5-0 win at Belvoir Drive on Friday afternoon 

- Barnes scored twice for Steve Beaglehole’s side as they picked up their third consecutive league win 

- The Foxes travel to north London to face Arsenal on Monday 28 November next in Premier League 2 

Harvey Barnes is confident the Leicester City Development Squad can continue their rich vein of form after their emphatic 5-0 victory against Derby County on Friday afternoon. 

The young City midfielder scored twice as Steve Beaglehole’s side picked up their third consecutive win in Premier League 2 with both Bartosz Kapustka and Layton Ndukwu also getting on the scoresheet after an own goal by Rams skipper Farrend Rawson set the hosts on their way. 

The Foxes are now unbeaten in four matches in the League – following the draw against Chelsea last month with victories against Tottenham Hotspur, Reading and now Derby – and they can continue that purple patch when they travel to north London to face Arsenal on Monday 28 November. 

Speaking at full-time at Belvoir Drive on Friday, Barnes told LCFC TV: “It was a great result for us. In the first half I thought we played well but the chances weren’t falling for us. 

“The second half was completely different and things went our way. We felt good at half-time and we were confident of pushing on if we got our tactics right. The lads were excellent today. 

“Of course, it’s always good to score a couple of goals. For the first one, I just spotted a gap in the defence and broke through it before finishing it off. 

“The second was a penalty after I was brought down in the area. Playing against good sides every week is only going to bring the players on and give us some experience. 

“Even if they don’t go our way, there is always another challenge around the corner.”
