Harvey Barnes insists the Leicester City Development Squad will learn from their defeat to Chelsea in Premier League 2 at St George’s Park on Friday afternoon.Steve Beaglehole’s men have endured a difficult start to 2017 with three defeats in as many games but Barnes, who made his first-team debut last month in the UEFA Champions League, says they must bounce back as soon as possible.
Mukhtar Ali scored a brace either side of Darnell Johnson's own goal just after the break before a late Dominic Solanke strike in added time wrapped up the three points - with City now looking to the trip to West Ham United on Monday 23 January as an opportunity to get back to winning ways.
Barnes told LCFC TV at full-time: “It was a good test for us but, obviously, the result didn’t go our way which is disappointing. It’s a good experience for us and we hope to bounce back from it.
“Just like when you win, it’s an experience. We’ll definitely take things from it – as we will from the Cheltenham game the other day.”
Despite the result, goalkeeper Max Bramley was called upon to make a series of crucial saves which, on another day, may have kept Leicester in the match in Burton-upon-Trent.
Barnes added: ‘There’s always going to be little errors in the game so knowing you have a keeper like Max in there is always reassuring.
“He might keep you in the game when other days it would go against you.”
