Hamza Choudhury, Raul Uche and Alex Pascanu scored as the Leicester City Development Squad enjoyed a 3-0 friendly victory over Jersey at the Springfield Stadium last night.

Steve Beaglehole’s men have not played a competitive fixture since the three weeks ago and, before on Monday night (7pm kick-off), the Foxes continued their preparations with a trip to the Channel Islands.

After just five minutes, Choudhury converted beyond host goalkeeper Euan Van Der Vliet from 12 yards out when he was felled in the penalty area by Stuart Andre in front of a bustling crowd in Jersey. Young Foxes striker Uche then headed home before Pascanu netted late on to settle matters.

Speaking at full-time, Beaglehole was pleased with the run-out and says it will stand his side in good stead ahead of their remaining Premier League 2 outings: “It was a great experience for us. We’ve just told the players we’re pleased. We’ve had a rigorous programme with a lot of games.

"It was great to get out here, it's a beautiful place and the hospitality from everyone associated with the Jersey FA has been fantastic. The opposition were very strong, they were aggressive and organised. So it’s been a great test for us and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our time here on the Island.

"We’ve had a lot of games this season, we’ve played in the UEFA Youth League and in the Premier League International Cup. This was a bit of a break for the players, I know what it’s like. The players have to do it right. If you don’t do that, a fixture like this is a banana skin.

"We were expected to win and we have won but it wasn’t easy. We got the break with the penalty and that took the wind out of their sails.”
