Leicester City stars Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani and Daniel Amartey have all been selected by their respective countries ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mahrez and Slimani will aim to help Algeria add to their 1990 title, as they face a challenging finals campaign in Group B.

The Desert Foxes will take on Tunisia, Zimbabwe and Senegal in a bid to qualify for the quarter-finals of the competition in Gabon.

Algeria contest fixtures with Zimbabwe Sunday 15 January, Tunisia on Thursday 19 January and Senegal on Monday 23 January, but first get preparations for the tournament underway on Saturday in a friendly clash with Mauritiana.

The City duo could potentially come up against a number of fellow Premier League stars including Liverpool’s Sadio Mane, Everton’s Idrissa Gueye and West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyaté.

Amartey completes City’s involvement at the Africa Cup of Nations, with his Ghana side contesting fixtures in Group D against Mali, Uganda and Egypt.

The 22-year-old netted his first goal for Claudio Ranieri’s men in the 2-2 draw with Stoke City in mid-December and will now link up with the Black Stars.

Ghana open their finals campaign against Uganda on Tuesday 17 January, before clashes with Mali on Saturday 21 January and seven-time winners Egypt on Wednesday 25 January.

Likely opponents for Amartey’s Ghana include Stoke City winger Ramadan Sobhi, Arsenal’s Mohamed El Nenny, Hull City forward Ahmed El Mohamady and Crystal Palace wideman Bakary Sako.
