Leicester City will face Chelsea at King Power Stadium in the third round of the EFL Cup next month.

One of several Premier League teams competing in Europe to enter the EFL Cup at this stage, the Foxes were drawn against Antonio Conte’s men on Wednesday evening.

The third round tie will take place in the week commencing Monday 19 September, in between City’s Premier League clashes with Burnley and Manchester United.

While Claudio Ranieri’s men begin their EFL Cup campaign at the third round stage, Chelsea beat Bristol Rovers 3-2 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening in the second round thanks to a brace from Michy Batshuayi and Victor Moses’ strike.

It is the first time since October 2007 that City have taken on the London outfit in this competition, with Chelsea emerging as 4-3 winners in a thrilling encounter at Stamford Bridge.

The last time the two sides faced each other at King Power Stadium, the Foxes recorded a memorable 2-1 Premier League victory in December 2015.

A date for the tie will be confirmed on LCFC.com in due course.
