Three Leicester City stars will be competing in the knockout rounds of Euro 2016 after advancing from the group stages with their respective nations this week.

England’s Jamie Vardy, Wales’ Andy King and France’s N’Golo Kanté all booked dates in the last-16 after the conclusion of the group matches, but now face tough matches to reach the quarter finals.

Kanté’s France were the first nation to book their spot in the last-16 and have been handed a tricky test against the Republic of Ireland on Sunday 26 June (2pm KO). The Leicester City midfielder sat out his country’s final group game against Switzerland – a 0-0 draw – having played a key role in wins over Romania and Albania to get them through.

In a dramatic final round of matches in Group B, it was King’s Wales who emerged in top spot ahead of second placed England following a brilliant 3-0 win over Russia. King came off the bench to help see out that victory, with the result seeing the Welsh book a last-16 date with fellow home nation Northern Ireland on Saturday 25 June (2pm KO)

England meanwhile could only draw 0-0 with Slovakia despite dominating the game. Vardy played 90 minutes during the match and will be hoping to be involved again when they lock horns with Iceland in the next round. That game will take place on Monday 27 June (8pm KO)

Finally, Christian Fuchs and Austria saw their Euro 2016 involvement come to an end with a last gasp 2-1 defeat to Iceland in their final group game, when a win would have seen them advance in second place to face England.

Should France beat the Republic of Ireland, they will face either England or Iceland in the quarter finals, while if Wales beat Northern Ireland, they could face either Hungary or Belgium in the last eight.
