After meeting a number of his new Leicester City team-mates during pre-season testing on Friday, summer signing Luis Hernandez says he is already feeling positive at the Club.

The central defender linked up with 13 other City stars for a series of fitness tests, completing his first working day at the Foxes’ Belvoir Drive training facility.

There was a warm welcome for Hernandez and fellow summer signing Ron-Robert Zieler, and the 27-year-old Spaniard was suitably impressed with the squad’s togetherness after joining on a four-year deal.

Speaking exclusively to Foxes Player HD, Hernandez said: “When I spoke with Claudio [Ranieri], he told me that Leicester is like a family. Now, I want to play my first game and train with all the players, so it’s good for me.

“I’ve had my first day here now and I’m really happy to have met my new team-mates. It’s a good group, like a little family, and I’m really happy to be here.

“The first day back is not easy, but it’s good. The training ground is good for all the players, so I’m happy with it and I feel good.

“The welcome from my team-mates is good. They’re good players and good people and I think this is important. When you’re at a big club and there’s great people, all is good. I think this is the reality of this club – good people and good players. This club is growing and I feel good here.”

The Foxes’ remarkable 2015/16 title-winning Premier League campaign made headlines throughout the footballing world, not least Spain, as Hernandez went on to explain.

“Leicester had a lot of support from everyone in football,” the defender added. “If you speak with many people from Spain, they love Leicester. It was a good season and I hope this year is similar for us. I hope to help the team now.

“The stadium is incredible. When I watched it on television, all the supporters love the team, so I’m happy to be here. The training ground is perfect for the players and all the people that work at the Club are good also. I like it here.”
