Hong Kong Citi Sevens Group Stage Draw Made

Leicester City Football Club have been drawn to face Wellington Phoenix, Kashima Antlers and the HKFC Captain’s Select in Group B of the Hong Kong Citi Soccer Sevens in May.

A 10-man squad of players from City's Under-21 ranks will join European counterparts Marseille, Bayer Leverkusen, Cagliari, Aston Villa and West Ham United in Happy Valley for the intense two-day, seven-a-side tournament which is staged between 26-28 May, 2017.

Leicester, the 2013 Cup winners, have reached a final on each of their five appearances in Asia, defeating Hong Kong champions Eastern 3-2 in last year’s Shield final and the competition will provide the Club’s young players with another opportunity to test their skills on the international stage.

2016 semi-finalists Wellington Phoenix, Japanese outfit Kashima Antlers and a Hong Kong Football Club Captain’s Select side await the Foxes this summer as they look to continue their successful record at the tournament under Development Squad coach Ben Petty.

Hong Kong Football Association Chief Executive Mark Sutcliffe added: There’s a lot of space on the pitch for people to exploit so it’s a very exciting format.

"There are some fantastic teams and big names, so this is a great opportunity for some of our players to test themselves against players from other countries.”

Group B:
