TRAVELLING FANS
Police wish to promote a relaxed atmosphere and encourage fans to remain in the pedestrian-only Plaza Mayor district of Madrid. The area has numerous bars, restaurants, ATM machines and Metro stations close to the vicinity for ease of travel.
Madrid Police have experience with UEFA Champions League supporters and will therefore engage with fans, but will under no circumstances tolerate any form of anti-social behaviour. According to Spanish law, any person arrested will be immediately placed in the judicial system and detained in Spain until the person has been serviced by the courts.
As a point of reference for fans, there will be designated Leicester City stewards in hi-vis coats with visible ID, located in the town centre.
Although it is not the law in Madrid that everyone must carry some form of ID on them at all times, fans are strongly advised to do so – preferably a driving licence or passport.
Landlords of public houses may refuse to allow fans to dress their hostelry in Leicester colours and we ask that fans respect their wishes. The content of the flag or banner must not be derogatory toward any topic or colourful language.
JOURNEY TO THE VICENTE CALDERON STADIUM
Metro stations: Madrid's Barajas Airport has Metro stations in Terminal T2 and T4. Trains leave every five minutes from 6am up until 2am. ‘Line 8’ goes straight to the Nuevos Ministerios Metro station in the centre of Madrid, with a journey time of approximately 12 minutes.
Taxi service: Fans are advised to only use official taxis, which are white with a red stripe at the door. When hired, ensure that the meter has been turned on. Depending on traffic, a taxi ride from the airport to the city centre costs around €30. Avoid taxis at rush hour during 8-9am, 1.30-3pm and 5.30-8pm from Monday to Friday if possible.
Airport express bus: This costs €5 per person and the journey takes about 35-40 minutes to Atocha Station. Alternatively, use the fast, cheap, modern and easily accessible Renfe Train. However, the Renfe Train can be very busy and crowded during rush hour. Renfe costs €2.10 per ticket and takes around 20 minutes, with four announced stops in both Spanish and English en route to the Atocha Station. The station is adjacent to the Metro line. Madrid has one of the most efficient Metro services in Europe and the cost of a single journey via Metro is €1.50 or €10 euros for an all-day pass.
Madrid Tourist Travel Pass: Fans may wish to consider buying the Madrid Tourist Travel Pass, which permits travel on any Metro, bus or suburban train, all included in the price of just €5. With this pass, it is not necessary to pay the airport surcharge. It is also possible to purchase a 10-trip Metrobus ticket, valid for both the Metro and city buses. This may be purchased at newspaper outlets, ‘estancos’ or tobacconists and Metro stations. Please note that a supplementary ticket for any journey to or from the airport will need to be purchased.
Coach: Fans travelling by coach from the airport will be dropped off at the fan meeting point at the Plaza Mayor.
The official meeting point for fans travelling to the Vicente Calderon Stadium will be the Plaza Mayor. Supporters must be congregated at this point at least three hours before kick-off for their police escort to the stadium. This journey will take approximately 40 minutes.
The Ronda de Toledo Metro station is only a few minutes’ walk from the stadium. However, the Piramides Metro should be avoided as that is the location preferred by the Atlético Madrid supporters.
TICKETS
The match ticket collection point will be located at the Hotel Santa Domingo, situated on the Calle de San Banardo. Opening times from 9am until 6pm on Wednesday 12 April, but there will be no late collection point. The Hotel Santa Domingo is approximately a 10-minute walk to the supporters’ meeting point at Plaza Mayor. Another popular bar for football fans, O’Neill’s, is also 10 minutes’ walk from the Plaza Mayor.
Supporters will be required to present the passport that they have used to travel and their redeemable ticket voucher in order to collect their actual match ticket. All Champions League match tickets will be sold to individual Season Ticket Holders and Members using their unique supporter numbers and must be collected in person by the respective Season Ticket Holder - this includes all concessions and companions. We will only issue match tickets to the individuals that they have been allocated to.
Therefore, should the name on the voucher and the passport not match, you will not be issued with a match ticket. Other forms of ID, photocopies and out-of-date passports will not be accepted under any circumstances.
All tickets purchased under a Season Ticket Holder Supporter Number will not be transferable and cannot be used by any other supporter.
Supporters are advised to arrive at the ticket collection point as early as possible to avoid delays. There will be no opportunity to collect tickets once the facility is closed.
Those travelling with the Club’s Thomas Cook supporter travel will receive their match tickets on the flight.
Fans who DO NOT have a ticket for the fixture are strongly advised not to travel to Madrid.
Please note, there will be NO ticket sales on the day of the game.
Tickets are SOLD OUT for the Madrid fixture.

The upper visiting sections have LIMITED bars and toilets, while there are no specific services for semi-ambulant fans.
Turnstiles will open two hours before kick-off or earlier if deemed necessary by the police. Numbered and reserved seating will be applied. Fans MUST arrive early to avoid congestion and enter the ground in sufficient time before kick-off.
Every supporter that enters the stadium will be subject to a body search, bag search and a ticket checking system. ID is required to support a valid ticket.
Large bags will not be allowed into the stadium, but a bag drop off point is available and is located adjacent to entry point six.
It is a criminal offence to attempt to enter the stadium with fireworks, smoke bombs or marine flares.
Flags are allowed to be taken into the stadium but must refer to the visiting team only and must not be derogatory. Flags or banners should not be more than three metres in length. Those in excess of that size must be accompanied by a fire prevention certificate and also have prior approval from the national police. A photograph should be sent in advance.
Banned items include musical instruments, poles, drinks, fireworks, sprays, objects with sharp points, sticks, toilet paper and other paper objects. Throwing objects and beverages is strictly prohibited.
FAN LOCATION
The stand in which Leicester City fans are located is not protected from the elements. Expect reasonably mild temperatures in Madrid, but chilly during the evening.
Supporters with disabilities will be located at ground level, supported by one toilet. The stadium however is not to the same standard as Porto or Copenhagen.
LCFC fans must remain in their section until police give the stewards permission to release supporters.
Only food and drink purchased in the ground are allowed into the stands. The concessions in the stadium are CASH ONLY, but there are ATM machines in several locations around the city.
