Saturday’s round of international fixtures saw three Leicester City stars represent their nations, as Ahmed Musa, Daniel Amartey and Wes Morgan all featured.

Striker Musa helped Nigeria to a 1-0 victory over Tanzania, as Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho scored a 25-yard screamer to hand the Super Eagles a win and in turn move them second in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group G.

Musa came closest to netting just before the hour mark and would have done so were it not for a brilliant save from Tanzania stopper Aishi Manula.

Over in Group H, Amartey’s Ghana, having already secured their spot in the Africa Cup of Nations finals, finished their qualification campaign unbeaten.

The City midfielder, who excelled in the 2-1 victory over Swansea City last time out, saw his nation draw 1-1 with Rwanda, as Samuel Tetteh and Hakizima Muhajiri were both on target.

Meanwhile, Morgan played 90 minutes for Jamaica in their 2018 World Cup qualifying defeat to Panama at the Estadio Rommel Fernández in Panama City on Saturday.

The Reggae Boyz needed a win to advance from North and Central America Group B, but goals from Gabriel Torres and Abdiel Arroyo secured a 2-0 victory for the hosts.

Morgan’s men round off their qualifying campaign against Haiti in Kingston on Wednesday 7 September.

Finally, young Leicester City defender Darnell Johnson was an unused substitute for England Under-19s on Thursday evening, as they drew 1-1 with the Netherlands.

Everton’s Tom Davies gave the young Lions the lead in the first period, but Justin Hoogma equalised with six minutes to play, before England went on to win 9-8 on penalties.

Up to five Foxes could notch up further international appearances on Sunday, as Islam Slimani, Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy, Danny Drinkwater and Bartosz Kapustka’s nations all see action.
