Johnson Aiming For Positive Response

- The Foxes were beaten 3-0 by Wolfsburg in their Premier League International Cup opener on Tuesday at King Power Stadium 

- Johnson says his side’s hard work will prepare them well for the Chelsea clash 

Following Tuesday evening’s Premier League International Cup defeat to Wolfsburg, defender Darnell Johnson wants his side to bounce straight back against Chelsea. 

The Development Squad were beaten 3-0 by the German outfit at King Power Stadium, but have the opportunity to return to winning ways in Premier League 2 on Friday. 

The Foxes head to Aldershot Town to take on a Chelsea side that have won four of their opening seven league fixtures. 

It is likely to be a difficult challenge for Steve Beaglehole’s outfit, but Johnson hopes his side’s hard work on the training pitch will prepare them well for the clash. 

“We were a bit slow today,” Johnson reflected to LCFC TV after the loss to Wolfsburg. “Our tempo was slow and we didn’t really press enough, but I thought we were a little unlucky. 

“We conceded some sloppy goals, but hopefully on Friday we can bounce back and do better in that game. 

“We conceded pretty late on in the first half and we were a little down, but we had a good team talk and that gave us a kick-start for the second half. 

“They’re very experienced. We looked at their team and they looked like they had older players than us – they looked a bit more experienced. 

“It would be brilliant if the lads can rest up and then train hard in the next couple of days to go to Chelsea with the right mind set. Hopefully we can get a good result there.”
