King Takes Positives From Atletico Trip

On the back of another personal landmark, Andy King believes Leicester City still have a good chance of reaching the UEFA Champions League's final four after defeat at Atlético Madrid.

King has represented City in the top three tiers of English football - - before coming on as a second half substitute at the Vicente Calderón on Wednesday night for a hotly-contested Quarter-Final first-leg tie in the Spanish capital.

The 28-year-old’s introduction helped the Foxes curtail the qualities of goalscorer Antoine Griezmann meaning Craig Shakespeare’s men return to Filbert Way knowing a two-goal victory on Tuesday night will be enough for them to secure safe passage into the Semi-Final draw.

“We can take a lot of positives from it,” King told LCFC TV following the result in Madrid. “We know we can overturn a deficit at home in the next leg and that was the main thing tonight – to make sure we’re still in it going into the home leg because we know we’re strong there.

“We knew that tonight was going to be a tough atmosphere. We know they’re good at home but so are we. We wanted to make sure the atmosphere next week definitely counts for something. The fans can get behind us like they always do and hopefully we can turn it around.

“They’re a top team, you don’t get to two of three finals without being that. They showed that again tonight but I thought we gave a good account of ourselves. For it to be 1-0 and a hard decision to give them that goal [a penalty in the 28th minute], we can take great credit from that."

Ahead of a Premier League trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday, King insists that Leicester’s focus has switched back to domestic duties: “There is still a lot of work to be done in the league. We’re in good form and we’ve got a lot of confidence. Palace are confident as well, it’ll be a good game but we need to make sure we’re ready.”
