Claudio Ranieri turned up the heat on Leicester City’s pre-season preparations on a scorching Monday afternoon in Los Angeles.

The squad set up camp at the home of the LA Galaxy, the StubHub Center, making the most of some excellent training facilities to give locals and watching media a snapshot of a high tempo and high intensity session.

With wins over Oxford United and Celtic under the team’s belts so far this pre-season, there’s no question that the Premier League champions are looking in good shape, but tougher tests await.

The next of those comes in the form of Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain at the StubHub Center on Saturday night – the second of City’s three fixtures in the 2016 International Champions Cup competition.

Spirits were certainly high in the camp heading into Monday’s session, which was the squad’s first in Los Angeles since landing on Sunday night.

Included in that group were the likes of Christian Fuchs and Andy King, who had clearly lost none of their sharpness during what was a busy off-season for the pair given their Euro 2016 involvement.

City’s coaching staff led the squad through a variety of warm-ups and fitness drills before breaking out into some small-sided games that were played at a breakneck pace under the beating Los Angeles sunshine.

It was a case of ice baths all round for the lads after another gruelling but carefully planned gym session followed the on-field training – part of the reason the squad have been able to hit the ground running so well this pre-season.

New boy Nampalys ‘Papy’ Mendy and defender Danny Simpson then took the time to speak with LCFC TV about their first day in California before the manager and Wes Morgan were whisked away to ESPN’s studios for a live chat about the ICC and their astonishing season last term.

It wasn’t only the manager and skipper talking Leicester City in Los Angeles however, as Club legends and Ambassadors Emile Heskey and Alan ‘The Birch’ Birchenall appeared alongside the Premier League trophy to mark the Foxes’ arrival in California for the International Champions Cup.

Training will continue throughout the week in Los Angeles alongside a host of other activities – all of which you can keep up-to-date on at LCFC.com!
