LCFC Community Trust Soccer Schools A Great Success

Young people from across Leicestershire have benefitted enormously from the latest round of the LCFC Community Trust’s Soccer Schools, not least those at Bosworth Academy on Thursday.

The Community Trust is designed to inspire boys and girls from the local region to engage with football and to give them opportunities which they may not have received through other channels.

Over the Easter break, the highly-popular Soccer Schools have visited Rawlins Academy, Holmes Park, Beaumont Leys High School, the Goals Soccer Centre, Newbridge High School and Elizabeth Park.

With each participant also receiving an official Leicester City Football Club certificate, the children are invited to engage in fun and productive sessions aimed to improve their understanding of key areas within the game.

Jamie Skinner, the Education and Partnerships Manager at the Community Trust, said: “The Soccer Schools take place within each half-term during the academic term and in the summer period.

"The aim of the course is to target boys and girls between four and 12-years-old to provide them with the opportunity to develop their skills within a structured, professional environment.

Community Trust Football Camps

Children from across Leicestershire enjoy the Football Camps at Bosworth Academy.

“We hope to use the brand of Leicester City to motivate these young people to become the next Foxes stars. We’ve got a variety of children from across Leicestershire.

"It’s a great opportunity to make new friends, meet new people and integrate with different schools and people they’ve never met before. It’s a fantastic opportunity to play football within a safe environment.”

PL Girls Officer Alicia Johnson, meanwhile, added: “It’s really exciting for all the children. They turn up and have a fun and professional experience.

"They learn new skills from dribbling, passing, shooting and defending while meeting lots of new children from around the area. We do lots of different skills throughout the day and other tasks to prepare them for a match environment. It's a brilliant way to enjoy playing football locally.”
