Loan Round-Up: City Trio In Action

Leicester City trio Matty James, Tom Lawrence and Harvey Barnes all completed another 90 minutes while on loan at their adopted Football League clubs this weekend.

Lawrence, 23, has been in magnificent form for Ipswich Town this season with nine goals in the Sky Bet Championship but, despite providing an assist early on for Luke Chambers to take the lead against Cardiff City, he was unable to prevent a 3-1 defeat for his side in south Wales.

The Wales international has since had to pull out of international duty for Wales through injury, where he plays alongside Foxes team-mate Andy King for Chris Coleman’s men, meaning Liverpool midfielder Harry Wilson will take his place in the squad to face the Republic of Ireland.

Elsewhere, James also continues to impress for Barnsley despite a 2-0 reverse against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon. The Foxes midfielder has proven to be integral to Paul Heckingbottom since joining the Tykes on loan until the end of the season in January.

Barnes, meanwhile, was the only Foxes loanee to taste victory at the weekend with Stuart O'Keefe striking in the second half for Robbie Neilson’s MK Dons to see off Coventry City at Stadium:MK.
