Tom Lawrence continued his remarkable goal-scoring form for Ipswich Town as Matty James, Callum Elder and Harvey Barnes played full 90 minutes on loan in the Football League this weekend.

Wales international Lawrence, 23, reached double figures in the scoring stakes for this season after he grabbed a brace for the Tractor Boys at Portman Road in a battling 2-2 draw against Reading on Saturday afternoon.

The midfielder has been in fine form for Mick McCarthy's men in the Sky Bet Championship this year and he opened the scoring again after 43 minutes, running from deep in his own half before smashing it in off the crossbar.

Reading equalised through Jordon Mutch after the interval with Lawrence then adding his second of the day by slotting it past Ali Al-Habsi for his eighth goal in as many games before Jordan Obita’s late leveller for the visitors.

James, meanwhile, completed another 90 minutes for Barnsley as they sealed a 0-0 draw with play-off rivals Preston North End at Oakwell. The 25-year-old made his debut for the Tykes against Rotherham United last month.

Edler, who joins his City team-mate in Yorkshire, also saw out the full match at left-back on his debut after agreeing to join Paul Heckingbottom's men on loan until the end of the season on transfer deadline day.

19-year-old Foxes midfielder Barnes, too, continued his progress for MK Dons to help Robbie Neilson’s men extend their unbeaten run to five matches with a 1-1 draw with promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers in League 1.
