Match Preview: Oxford United vs. Leicester City

Leicester City will be looking to kick-off preparations for the 2016/17 season with a positive result, ahead of three thrilling International Champions Cup fixtures against Celtic, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona. 

It was April 1994 when the last time City took on the Us in a competitive fixture, with Julian Joachim and Mark Blake netting in a 2-2 draw. 

Travelling Foxes fans making the trip to the Kassam Stadium could potentially see summer signings Ahmed Musa, Luis Hernandez, Ron-Robert Zieler and Nampalys Mendy all in action. 

Having secured promotion to League 1 with a second-place finish last term, Michael Appleton’s Oxford United will play their fourth fixture of pre season on Tuesday evening. 

A superb 2015/16 campaign saw Oxford lose just eight times in 46 fixtures, beaten to the League 2 title only by a ruthless Northampton Town side. 

Preparations for the new term are well underway, with a 1-1 draw against Solihull Moors, a 2-0 victory over Alhaurin de la Torre and most recently a 1-0 defeat to Marbella coming on Friday. 

After their pre-season tour in Spain, the Us next take on City, before fixtures against Brighton and Hove Albion and Barnet. 

TICKETS 

Tickets for Leicester City’s pre-season fixture against Oxford United are currently on General Sale from the Club until 2pm on Monday 18 July. 

They can be purchased by calling the Sales Centre on 0344 815 5000 (Option 1) or by visiting the City Fanstore at King Power Stadium. 

After the 2pm deadline, any remaining tickets will be on sale on the night of the game from the Kassam Stadium’s North Stand ticket office and can be purchased with CASH ONLY.
