Ahead of Saturday’s Premier League fixture at Sunderland, skipper Wes Morgan is hoping Leicester City can take inspiration from their recent trips to the Stadium of Light.

It’s proved to be a special place for the Foxes over the past few seasons. During the 2014/15 campaign, a goalless draw meant City retained their top-flight status with a game to spare, while last season’s 2-0 win secured UEFA Champions League football for the Club.

But while Claudio Ranieri’s men head to Sunderland with those positive experiences behind them, Morgan and his team-mates are aware of just how difficult it is to play there.

The skipper told LCFC TV: “We’ve had some good results there in the past but at the same time it’s been a tough, intimidating place to go.

“The fans have always been loud and the atmosphere has always been good, so we need to be prepared for that.

"Perhaps the results from the past can help us and get us a win.

“I think the position we find ourselves in means we need to pick up some points, so we can’t be going there sitting back and seeing what happens. We need to try and get a win and that’s what we want to do.”

Echoing Ranieri's thoughts ahead of the clash, Morgan knows that with a spot in the last-16 of the Champions League confirmed, his side must now focus on improving their position in the Premier League table.

He added: “The highs of our journey in the Champions League has been great, so hopefully the boys can replicate that into our league form.

“The sooner we do that the better. It’s fantastic getting through to the last-16 of the Champions League, but we want to focus on the Premier League now.”
