Okazaki: We’ll Bounce Back

- The Foxes were beaten 2-1 by the Baggies at King Power Stadium 

- It was City’s first Premier League home defeat since September, 2015 

Shinji Okazaki has no doubts that Leicester City will swiftly put Sunday’s defeat to West Bromwich Albion behind them and kick on in the Premier League. 

The Foxes’ remarkable unbeaten home league record came to an end against the Baggies, having not lost at King Power Stadium since their defeat to Arsenal in September, 2015. 

As expected, Tony Pulis’ men proved to be an extremely well organised outfit and while the Foxes did well to level the game when Islam Slimani replied to James Morrison’s header, Matty Phillips fired in the winner with just under 20 minutes to play. 

“It was an important game, but West Brom are like us,” Okazaki reflected to LCFC TV. “They’re good at defending and quick on the counter attack. 

“They’re a very dangerous team. Maybe in the first few minutes, they were very good, but after that, we played a good game. 

“It was difficult because the opponent is organised defensively and maybe we didn’t shoot enough. 

“We didn’t have a bad first half, but the second half was very open and there were a lot of counter attacks.” 

While of course a victory before the international break would have been welcomed by Claudio Ranieri and his men, Okazaki says his side will now – with the backing of the Blue Army – work hard to return to winning ways when City’s international stars return to the Club. 

He added: “Both teams were dangerous, but 2-1 is disappointing for us. The atmosphere with us is difficult, but we have an international break now, so that’ll change things. 

“Of course we have a good team and good supporters with a lot of energy. We will come back again.”
