Petty: Big Improvement Needed At West Ham

- Ben Petty looks ahead to the Premier League Cup clash against West Ham United on Monday

- The Foxes travel to Dagenham on the back of a 4-0 reverse against Chelsea in Premier League 2

- Petty has called for a markedly improved performance against the Hammers to get back on track

- City then welcome Manchester City to Holmes Park on Monday 30 January (7pm kick-off)

City suffered a in Premier League 2 to leave them 11th in the league table before this Monday’s trip to Dagenham to face the Hammers (7pm kick-off). 

“We’re looking for a big improvement,” Petty . “The good thing is that we’ve had a good ten days on the training pitch. 

“We had them in the day after the Chelsea match and we’re going to work the lads hard. They’ll buy into it, they’re a hard-working bunch. 

“They’re hurting, too, so we’ll be back at it in time for West Ham. Chelsea were a tough side and, again, we need to learn from it.”

Petty has highlighted the importance of taking lessons from the recent setbacks, pointing to the match at Victoria Road as an opportunity to get back on track. 

He added: “We’ve talked about the qualities of Chelsea, not just technically, but how hard they worked off the ball. 

“They defended very well. Over the last week Steve [Beaglehole] and I have been disappointed with how we’ve defended. We have prided ourselves on being hard to beat and we’ve let ourselves down.  

“As coaches we need to get back to basics and the players need to get back to working really hard and defending that goal better.”
