After a goalless UEFA Champions League draw against FC Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday night, Claudio Ranieri hailed the importance of a point.

It’s one which moves the Foxes onto 10 at the top of Group G, leaving them on the verge of qualification for the last-16 and with a minimum third-placed finish already secured.

That means the Foxes will definitely be playing European football in 2017 and they have yet another incredible defensive display to thank for it, as a splendid late Kasper Schmeichel save from Andreas Cornelius earned them a fourth-straight clean sheet in the competition – the only team yet to be breached.

Ranieri’s men were made to work hard for that precious point however thanks to both a well-drilled opponent and a partisan home support inside Parken Stadium.

Afterwards, Ranieri told LCFC TV: “I’m very happy because at the beginning we were waiting for this kind of performance. Copenhagen wanted to push and to score immediately and they put us under pressure with the crowd.

“We stopped very well all the crosses and Kasper [Schmeichel] didn’t make any saves [early in the game]. Then I changed the formation to 4-4-1-1 and we played much better in the second half.

“Of course in the end both teams could score and win the match. Kasper made a very good save and we had two or three chances but the last pass wasn’t so good. Kasper gave us two points [in the home game with a late save to keep it 1-0] and today he won us one point. It’s very important for us because 10 points is not enough, but it’s a good point tonight.

“It’s another clean sheet and for this reason we have one point in Copenhagen against a good team and a very well organised team. I’m very very satisfied.”
