Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri says his side’s International Champions Cup fixtures will provide them with a taste of what it’s like to play in the UEFA Champions League.

A simply stunning 2015/16 Premier League campaign not only saw the Foxes win an English top flight title for the first time, but also saw them qualify for a debut season in the Champions League.

The prospect of facing some of the best club sides in Europe is an exciting one, and City are likely to experience something similar when they take part in the International Champions Cup for the first time, according to the Foxes boss.

“We will prepare against big teams, with big players,” Ranieri told LCFC TV. “For us it’s the first time in the Champions League and it’s important for us to feel the atmosphere of playing in international matches.

“For this reason, I wanted to play against these big teams, and it’s also good for the Club, because it’s very, very important.”

A clash with Scottish champions Celtic in Glasgow comes first on Saturday, before City face Paris Saint-Germain in Los Angeles on 30 July and Barcelona in Stockholm on 3 August.

The City boss continued: “We play against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic, so it’s important to have a good relationship and communication – to be calm and play like we’re used to playing.

“It’s important to be prepared to change something. Maybe during the match, we need to change something, and it’s a good opportunity with these games to do so.”
