With the Foxes set to tackle Paris Saint-Germain in their second 2016 International Champions Cup fixture on Saturday, manager Claudio Ranieri wants his players to learn from the experience.

The Ligue 1 champions are an example of the kind of teams that the Foxes could face in this season’s Champions League and the boss wants his players to get used to facing off against big name sides.

The International Champions Cup certainly serves that purpose, with the Foxes already having registered a penalty shootout win over Celtic and after their clash with PSG they are due to face Barcelona in Stockholm.

“It’s important for us now to play against these big teams,” explained Ranieri. “I said the same against Celtic.

“For everybody at Leicester it is a good experience. These kinds of matches are friendly matches but not friendly matches. It’s not the Champions League, but it’s very important to gain experience and also see at what point we are with fitness.

“We are working so hard here in Los Angeles. It’s very hot and we aren’t used to seeing the sun in Leicester! I think here it didn’t rain since January.”

One player who won’t feature against PSG is striker Jamie Vardy, who joined up with the squad for the first time on Thursday after returning from Euro 2016 action and undergoing surgery on his wrist.

Ranieri added: “The surgery did a very good job. I think everything is okay. Of course for him it’s important to make some good training sessions now so he can be available.

“No, it’s too early. I don’t want to risk him. It’s important he can work well and to be fit before maybe the Community Shield or the beginning of the season.”
