Claudio Ranieri insists he is taking one match at a time ahead of a crucial trio of fixtures for Leicester City in the Emirates FA Cup, UEFA Champions League and Premier League over just nine days.
The Foxes could be in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, be in a strong position in Europe after the first leg of their last-16 clash against FC Sevilla and be two places higher in the league by the end of March.
Speaking to the national media on Thursday afternoon, ahead the Foxes’ FA Cup Fifth Round tie in London, the boss said: “Let me think about one match and after that, the second, then the third.
“Believe me, I don’t think about Sevilla on Wednesday, I think only about Millwall. Our focus is on Millwall because they are in good shape. They have already beaten Bournemouth and Watford in the Cup.
“From 17 December they haven't lost and they score goals. Everything is fantastic. They fight very well. We know everything and we are positive. We have to play. There was a draw, there was Millwall.
“They have beaten two Premier League teams. We know this. We are the underdog! If they beat Bournemouth and Watford - they are above us. I think now of [Friday] and Millwall.
“Then I look at what happened and I think about Sevilla - then Liverpool. Maybe you win against Millwall and the players get confident and then I study about Sevilla and I explain Sevilla to my players and I choose the team.
“Step by step. Why [should] I think about Liverpool? Because if our aim is Liverpool and we lose two matches in a row, so it is not important? No, it is important. I want to see.”
Ranieri also pointed to the FA Cup as an important competition for City, after already overcoming Everton and Derby County, and revealed that he has reminded his players of its significance ahead of Millwall.
He added: “Of course, for this reason I said to my players ‘come on the FA Cup is an important game – we have to play for our fans’. The fans believe in something good and we have to play for our fans.
“I know it is sold out and 3,000 of our fans are there with us. to support us I want to see our players fight against Millwall, to play for them and win.”
