Claudio Ranieri had nothing but praise for his team after they roared to their first Premier League victory of the season at the expense of Swansea City at King Power Stadium.

Goals from Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan either side of half-time put the Foxes 2-0 up but they were made to sweat near the end as Riyad Mahrez saw a penalty saved before Leroy Fer pulled one back for Swansea.

City saw out the 2-1 victory though, which was their first of the season and Ranieri’s 100th as a manager in the Premier League, sending them into the international break on a positive note.

“I’m very pleased,” Ranieri told . “Our first half was outstanding. We played very well and we deserved more than one goal. It’s okay. At the end we complicated the match a little when we missed a penalty and they scored a goal.

“It was important to get three points and move up the table. Now we have four points and I’m very pleased with our performance.”

There were strong performances all over the park for the Foxes and a delighted manager was thrilled with the way his team worked so well as a unit.

He added: “Jamie [Vardy] is always the same. He didn’t forget the way to score a goal and for us. He’s very important and he played well. I’m very pleased also for [Daniel] Amartey in a new role for us. He’s a very important player for us.

“They have a very good link. Danny [Drinkwater] with Riyad [Mahrez] and then with Jamie [Vardy], it was a very good combination. It’s important that everybody is working together.

“It was important because we play very well and we deserve to score. It was important to score a goal.”
