Leicester City manager Craig Shakespeare believes Manchester City will show the same attacking prowess as they did during their resounding victory over Crystal Palace last time out.

Pep Guardiola’s men stormed to a 5-0 win at Etihad Stadium last weekend as they continued their pursuit of a top-four finish in the Premier League.

Well aware of how Saturday’s opponents can deal damage to teams, Shakespeare knows his men will have to perform as they have done in recent games to return to Leicester with a positive result.

“I saw the game against Crystal Palace and they looked hungry to me,” said Shakespeare. “I thought they were outstanding. Their offense would cause any team in the world problems.

They beat a side like Crystal Palace that was good form going into the game and hard to break down, but it was a hard day for Palace. I expect them to be in the same ilk against us on Saturday.

For Shakespeare – and of course members of the Blue Army – the superb 3-1 win at Etihad Stadium last season was the moment that many thought the impossible was in fact achievable.

The City boss continued: “I have said on many occasions, coming away from that game I sat at home that night and for the first time that season I thought ‘wow, we could go on to win this.’

I think we actually put a good marker down that day. The overall team performance was outstanding.

“It surprised a few people and I think we surprised Man City on the day, how together we were, the work rate and energy but also the ability. I thought it was an outstanding team performance that day.”
