hopes Leicester City can harness the disappointment of Monday’s defeat by Burnley as motivation to spur them on in the coming weeks.

The Foxes fell to a after a controversial Sam Vokes winner in the 87th minute which leaves Claudio Ranieri’s men in 16th position in the Premier League table.

Simpson admits the City camp are “hurting” after the defeat in Lancashire but says the frustration will motivate them to improve their current form, starting with the visit of Manchester United on Sunday.

The right-back told LCFC TV: “I’m devastated, everyone is in the dressing room. Especially after [Vokes] controlled it with him arm. We know Burnley, we know their game plan. We defended well, put our bodies on the line and defended well.

“As part of the back four, to concede at the end, it’s hurting. We’ve got to pull together - everyone, us, the fans, everyone to do with the Club - we're hurting, and we’ve got a big game at the weekend.”

Simpson insists City can take some solace from their performance in Burnley, if not the result, and says the players need the unrelenting backing of the Blue Army now more than ever.

“I hope the fans can see that [effort], especially the last couple of games, to come back again Derby at the end,” he said.

“Today, I thought that everyone was giving everything, it’s just hard to take and we need the fans more than ever. We all need to pull together and pick up some points.

“Tonight, everyone is devastated, but we’ve got a massive game coming up at the weekend. It’s hard but, we’re at home, and we’ll have our fans behind us and we need to show the commitment we showed today.”
