It was the togetherness of Leicester City that most pleased manager Claudio Ranieri following Saturday’s Premier League draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

A first away point of the season came courtesy of a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane – a game that saw the Foxes show all of their mettle in against a Spurs side that still haven’t lost in the Premier League this term.

Vincent Janssen gave the hosts the lead from the spot a minute before the break, but City equalised thanks to Ahmed Musa’s second strike for the Club shortly after half-time.

“I am very pleased with our spirit,” said Ranieri. “So far we showed an individual spirit. Today (Saturday) I saw the old spirit, the team spirit that we had last season.

“I think we finished thinking about something different and got back together. I don’t want to say we didn’t play with spirit. I say we didn’t play with team spirit.

“The players always gave their maximum but maybe they ran more than before but not as a team.

“Today we played as a team again. We drew but also if we had lost I would be happy because when I feel the team I am happy.”

The draw in London followed back-to-back wins for City and Ranieri was pleased that his side could translate that good form into the game against Spurs.

“It is good because during this week I told my players I saw our spirit,” the City boss added. “Now I look forward and you have to show on the pitch. It is only words.

“You have to show what I saw in training. The answer was fantastic. We started well from the beginning. In the bad moment were all together.

“We tried to win and Spurs tried to win. I think it was a very good match because right until the end the fans didn’t know who could win. This is the magic of the Premier League.”
