U18s Report: Leicester City 0 Reading 2

- Akinwale Odimayo and Danny Loader scored Reading’s U18 Premier League goals 

- The young Foxes threated, but couldn’t convert their chances 

Leicester City’s Under-18s were beaten for just the second time this term after Reading recorded a 2-0 win at Belvoir Drive on Saturday. 

The young Foxes headed into the game on the back of a battling 2-2 draw at West Ham United last weekend, when goals from Elliot Webber and Kairo Edwards-John earned a point at Little Heath. 

But Reading, who had recorded back-to-back home wins over Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur prior to the game, were ruthless going forward. 

Despite a positive start from City, the Royals took the lead through Akinwale Odimayo, who nodded in a corner from Joel Rollinson. 

Trevor Peake’s outfit pushed for an equaliser and hit the post, but Reading doubled their lead with 15 minutes to play through Danny Loader - Rollinson again the provider.

Peake reflected to LCFC.com: “We started off very brightly and a big part of our game is pressing. We put them under a lot of pressure in the first 25 minutes and they hardly got out of their half. 

“We know we need to work on our creating sand finishing and we didn’t do either of that. We hit the bar in that period of time and we worked their back four but didn’t really work their ‘keeper. 

“Each week we try and concentrate on certain things and after about 30 minutes they scored from a corner. It’s difficult to mark, so after bossing the game we’re 1-0 down going into half-time. 

“They broke away and scored a goal in the 75th minute and unfortunately it was just about over for us. We’re still working on our forward and defensive play and we’ll do that again ahead of our next game against Arsenal.”
