Tottenham Hotspur scored twice in injury time to record a 2-0 U18 Premier League win over Leicester City ‘s Under-18s at Belvoir Drive on Saturday.

City fielded a young side and had opportunities to take the lead in the first period through Kairo Edwards-John and Tom Fielding.

But Tottenham centre back Japhet Tanganga headed his side in front late on, before Keanan Bennetts completed the scoring in Leicester.

“We had a few injuries before the game, so our side was quite young and Tottenham are always a strong side,” Peake told LCFC.com.

“We played well in the first half and had the best chances, while they had quite a lot of possession.

“It started to change a little after the break due to injuries, including our goalkeeper, so we had a defender in goal for the last 25 minutes.

“We managed to get up until late in the game and hold out, but ended up conceding twice in injury time, which was a little gutting.

“The lads couldn’t have done any more given the circumstances, but the whole experience will be great for them – playing against Tottenham at that level.”

The young Foxes next head to Southampton to continue their U18 Premier League campaign on Saturday 22 October (12pm kick-off).
